Summer evenings
Summer is a special time at Midmar Fishery, the whole place comes to life. Insects hum in the long grass, swallows swoop over the ponds and there is usually a good evening rise.

Fishing is not always about catching. Sometimes the pleasure of being outside, in nature, should not be underestimated. The fishery is blessed with a different view in each direction. To the North, Bennachie is visible. To the south we can look at the Hill of Fare.

The forest to the east of the fishery is home to a wealth of wildlife and it is not uncommon to see deer grazing on the edge of the higher fields and buzzards circling overhead. We have even seen the odd red kite. If you are here in spring or early summer you might catch a glimpse of an osprey as it drops from the sky with a splash before taking a fish from below the surface (without buying a ticket of course)
